Logistics and transport

There is no doubt that diesel (in addition to petrol) engines have contributed considerably to global pollution and as a result there are already 6 countries that will be introducing a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars to be introduced in 2035.

Many health issues such as heart and lung disease have been attributed to diesel vehicle pollutants and emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) regularly exceed safe levels in many cities.

Diesel vehicles produce the overwhelming majority of roadside NOx gases. Bureau Veritas have certified that diesel fuel conditioned with ElimiNox Eco™  not only retains compliance with EN590 but also benefits from an increase of over 30% improvement in Lubricity.

ElimiNOX Eco™ dramatically reduces all the environmental pollutants produced by diesel engines. The product has been rigorously and successfully tested by world renown laboratories including Socotec Laboratories. The test results have been declared as ‘game changing’ for the diesel engine, environmental pollution and the health problems associated with diesel engine pollutants.

ElimiNOX Eco™ will keep fuel in storage tanks clean, scavenging excess water from fuel tanks maintaining fuel integrity and stability contributing to reduced filter blocking.

Not only does ElimiNOX Eco™ dramatically reduce diesel engine pollutants, it enables diesel engines to perform far more efficiently. ElimiNOX Eco™ will also clean all stored fuel when added to fuel storage tanks, and ensure diesel bug is both eliminated and prevented. The average miles driven per year for an HGV driver are 100,000. Commercial Vehicle Workshop called ElimiNOX Eco™ “a major breakthrough” in relation to its ability to dramatically reduce emissions across commercial vehicle fleets.

Railway Transport

Rail is among the most energy efficient modes of transport for freight and passengers – while the rail sector carries 8% of the world’s passengers and 7% of global freight transport, it represents only 2% of total transport energy demand.

Three-quarters of passenger rail transport activity takes place on electric trains, the rail sector is the only mode of of transport that is widely electrified today. However freight activity has risen steadily over the past twenty years and remains dependant upon diesel as an energy source. Approximately 29% of the UK’s rail fleet is diesel consuming around 172 million litres a year.

Electric trains have been estimated to cut carbon emissions by 20-35% compared with diesel trains. However given the level of infrastructure and rolling stock required to achieve traction decarbonisation, the level of capital investment required is significant.

Rail infrastructure electrification is complex and extremely costly, requiring extensive upgrades on a network which in some cases was never designed for any such electrification infrastructure. Network Rail’s Traction Decarbonisation Network Strategy (TDNS) estimates rail electrification will cost between £1 million and £2.5 million per km (in 2020 prices), making the total bill to electrify all remaining non electrified lines in Great Britain approximately £30 billion.

ElimiNOX Eco™ is proven to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 30% while improving fuel efficiency, with no additional investment, asset modification required; delivering benefits today and every day through to 2040.

Agriculture

In the agricultural sector, there is no cost-effective substitute for diesel engines with the same combination of energy efficiency, power and performance, durability and reliability.

Diesel dominates the entire “farm supply chain” – planting the product, tending the crop (watering, fertilisers, and pesticides), harvesting the product and even bringing the product to market by truck, rail or ship. Farm tractors, combines, irrigation pumps and other equipment are the workhorses in an industry vital to national economies and quality of life.

An increase in fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) blend component for red diesel fuel, which is made from various combinations of fresh and recycled vegetable oils and some animal fats, is suspected to be the root cause of the problem. Under the UK’s Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation, the government has set out targets to increase FAME content in red diesel fuels to 12.4% by 2032.

The changes are part of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encourage the use of safer biofuels. Reported issues include poor machine performance, blocked filters on storage tanks and machines, replacement of filters before schedule – sometimes after only a few hours of use – resulting in expensive machinery breakdowns and delays to field work. Unlike mineral diesel, FAME is ‘hydroscopic’ which means it attracts and holds onto water.

ElimiNOX Eco™ eliminates the water by suspending it as an emulsion within the diesel, removing the growth medium where the diesel bug thrives and actively prevents diesel bug growth between re-fuelling. Why treat the symptom when you can eliminate the cause.

Four out of five diesel engine failures are a result of the dreaded diesel bug, so don’t become yet another victim of this avoidable statistic. Unlike other diesel bug treatments which only kill the diesel bug after it has already built up, ElimiNOX Eco™ is unique because it eliminates the most common cause of diesel bug – the water in which it grows.

Using ElimiNOX Eco™ pays for itself by helping save the cost of expensive engine failures, extends your engines life, reduces service intervals and improves your engine’s fuel efficiency.

Public Transport

Because of its safety, reliability and efficiency, diesel is the predominant power source for public transit, school and intercity bus services.

People and goods are on the move faster and farther than ever. Road transport is an important source of both greenhouse gases and air pollutants, being responsible for significant contributions to emissions of Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides, Particulate Matter – PM10 and PM2.5.

While many cites have pledged to phase out diesel powered public transport in 2019 85.0% of all new medium and heavy buses (over 3.5 tonnes) registered in the European Union were fuelled by diesel,. All alternatively-powered vehicles (APV) combined accounted for 15.0% of the EU bus market, with electrically-chargeable vehicles (ECV) making up 4.0% of total new bus registrations. All of this goes to suggest that the related emissions will be with us for years to come. ElimiNOX Eco™ has the capability to make significant reductions to these emissions with proven results from even the latest Euro VI engines and with HVO. Although HVO reduces NOx emissions there are still emissions of particulate matter where ElimiNOX Eco™ is again proven to deliver improvement.

The extent to which the population and environment are exposed to harmful levels of air pollution is dependent upon various factors. However, as road transport emissions tend to occur in areas frequented by people, they are, relatively, more harmful than those from other sources.

Transport emissions — which primarily involve road, rail, air and marine transportation — accounted for over 24% of global CO2 emissions in 2016. They’re also expected to grow at a faster rate than that from any other sector, posing a major challenge to efforts to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement and other global goals.

Marine

Diesel bug is common in fuel tanks because of the long periods boats are moored for. Whether they are on canals, the open sea or a marina. If the tanks are half full – diesel is left to sit and the moisture from the air turns into water – causing sediment build up.
Diesel bug can cause several consequences including: Reduced power and misfiring of your boat’s engine, blocked fuel filters resulting in frequent costly replacements and repairs, wear and tear on your boat engines moving parts and gaskets etc wreck engines, corrode fuel tanks, and leave you powerless at sea.
The rise of biofuel will only increase the propensity for problems due to its hygroscopic nature. Four out of five diesel engine failures are a result of the dreaded diesel bug, don’t become yet another victim of this avoidable statistic, start using ElimiNOX Eco™.

There are around 100 types of bacteria that can live in fuel, feeding on condensed water and the diesel’s bio components. Diesel bug is caused by microbial bacteria that enter the fuel tank and feed on the water, nutrients and hydrocarbons that biofuels contain.

Temperature also plays a role in how quickly they develop, microbial growth will occur between 5-70°C but thrives around 30°C.

It can be expensive – Boatyards’ hourly labour rates are £45-70, depending on the engineer’s qualifications. Cleaning tanks, replacing affected fuel lines and filters can run to hundreds of pounds. If the injectors, or worse still the fuel pump, are affected, that can lead to bills of £400-£3,000.
A 500 ml bottle of ElimiNOX Eco™  will treat 1000 L of fuel and costs less than an hour’s worth of labour  = more fun less maintenance less expense and lower emissions.

Unlike other diesel bug treatments which only kill the diesel bug after it has already built up, ElimiNOX Eco™ is unique because it eliminates the most common cause of diesel bug – the water in which it grows. ElimiNOX Eco™ eliminates the water by suspending it as an emulsion within the diesel, removing the growth medium where the diesel bug thrives and actively prevents diesel bug growth between re-fuelling.

Why treat the symptom when you can eliminate the cause using ElimiNOX Eco™.

Fuel treated with ElimiNOX Eco™ has been certified by Bureau Veritas to retain compliance with EN590 while providing a lubricity improvement of over 30%.

Using ElimiNOX Eco™ pays for itself by helping save the cost of expensive engine failures, extends your engines life, reduces service intervals and improves your vessels fuel efficiency.
